The 2nd EAI International Conference on Future Access Enablers of Ubiquitous and Intelligent Infrastructures (FABULOUS 2016) aims to gather prominent researchers from academia and industry, innovators and entrepreneurs in the broad areas of future wireless networks, ambient and assisted living and smart infrastructures in order to interact, exchange ideas, expertise, experience and know-how and discuss the latest results and achievements in the aforementioned topics of interest.

Recent technology convergence within the ICT domain followed by increased user personalization triggers a need for multidisciplinary approaches tackling future networking problems from different perspectives. FABULOUS 2016 will provide a forum for its participants and trigger important discussions towards fulfillment of the conference scope.

Special emphasis will be put on the analysis of practical use-cases and business opportunities in different parts of the world showcasing the social influence of the ICT.

Highlights

  • The event is endorsed by the European Alliance for Innovation, a leading community-based organisation devoted to the advancement of innovation in the field of ICT.

  • All accepted papers will be submitted for publication in Springer and made available through SpringerLink Digital Library, one of the world's largest scientific libraries.

Topics

FABULOUS 2016 solicit original and previously unpublished papers targeting research challenges, advances and business opportunities towards a world of smart environments enabled by broadband and pervasive communications.

The evolution of the ubiquitous interconnected digital surroundings offers an increasing wealth of opportunities for novel access and core technologies, novel applications and services and novel communications solutions that shift the paradigm towards user-centric approaches.

We expect original work, not currently under review by another conference or journal, which describes theoretical work validated by simulation or experimental studies. Developed proof-of-concepts and testbeds are of particular interest.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • 5G access networks
  • Cloud RANs
  • Self-organizing networks
  • Ad-hoc networking
  • Cognitive radio
  • Dynamic spectrum access
  • Spectrum offloading
  • MmW and cmW bands for future access
  • Internet of things
  • Web of things
  • Wireless sensor networks and practical applications
  • Machine-to-machine (M2M) communications
  • Device-to-device (D2D) communications
  • Smart environments and examples (smart grids, eHealth solutions, assisted multi-modal learning etc.)
  • Energy efficiency and green solutions
  • Cloud computing
  • Software defined networking
  • Big data
  • Security
  • Life sciences
  • Data mining
  • Dataflow supercomputing

The FABULOUS 2016 Conference caters for a limited number of workshops on dedicated session topics. The aim of these workshops is to discuss work in progress and explore opportunities for new research related to a topic of interest within the context of the conference.

Proposals will be evaluated regarding relevance and anticipated interest, and should include Workshop title, presenter information, abstract, and intended audience.

A workshop proposal should contain:

  • Title of the workshop
  • A brief description of the specific technical issues that the workshop will address
  • The reasons why the workshop is interesting and timely
  • A draft call for papers, including the workshop submission deadlines
  • Tentative composition of the organizing and program committees

Presentations delivered during the workshops are based on papers that have been selected through peer- review process. Accepted workshop papers are included in the Conference Proceedings. Best workshop paper publications may be included in various Transactions or other journals.
